Must Visit Places in Kentucky – Boonesborough State Park
Boonesborough State Park is less than a half hour from Lexington. You can make it a day trip and spend all or part of your day at the park.
Spending the Night at the Park
You can make a reservation up to a year in advance at Fort Boonesborough State Park. There are restrictions on the length of stay and the park can get booked up months in advance so start planning early.
Activities at the Park
There is a fabulous pool for safe swimming at the park and a snack bar. Check the pool schedule if you plan to swim. The pool closes September 2nd. The snack bar and small grocery stays open the entire year. There is a charge for using the pool.
Other activities include fishing, hiking, and mini-golf.

You can visit with your family or take a field trip with your class. The activities engage students in the daily lives of early settlers on the Kentucky frontier. Through presentations of the daily chores and life skills necessary for survival, interpreters in 18th century clothing assist students in learning about and understanding frontier life. Read more….
